Remembering the 2022-2023 Boys Basketball Season

The high school boys basketball season is winding down, with the State Tournament coming up this weekend in Dayton.  In the four divisions there will be 12 games spread over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  I'll be there for all of them.

I reviewed my detailed records for this season that started for me back on November 22, 2022.  From that day until March 11, 2023 I attended basketball games on 53 days, totalling 63 varsity games.  I was at 54 boys games and 9 girls games at 13 different venues.  This includes 9 boys regional games at The Stroh Center at Bowling Green State University.  I never even counted the junior varsity games.

I saw 55 boys teams from Ohio and 1 from Michigan, and 9 girls teams from Ohio.  Some teams I saw multiple times and many I saw only once.  I had some favorite teams that I won't mention here--sometimes they won and sometimes they didn't.

On my website, Davey1.com, my friend Dave Sigler and I updated schedules and scores for 173 teams that played 2,065 games, and that number doesn't include any tournament games that are on the tournament brackets on the website!  So we were very busy!

For me, it seems like basketball season is 365 days a year, and that's ok with me. Next week I'll start getting ready for next season.
