Family Memories from Long Ago

Kind of a heavy heart today remembering my parents.  Today would have been my mom's birthday, but she passed away in 1994, followed by my dad in 1996.  I miss them.  Lots of great memories of our life years ago, including travels like these.

This is picture is old!  It's my dad, mom, and me, on a vacation to Colorado in 1969.  But this particular photo was taken in St. Louis, Missouri at the base of the Gateway Arch (you can see I'm holding a  booklet with a picture of the Arch on the cover).

We went on many vacations together when I was a child and had a good time on every one.  Wishing that I could turn the clock back.

Homespun Vernonware Collection

Here's a few pieces of our Vernonware dishes.  This is the Homespun pattern, last made in 1958.  My wife and I enjoy these a lot.  The two on the right are called "jug" pitchers. These pieces haven't been out of our box for a few years.

Inaugurate Now.

Ok, friends and everyone else. I'd like to set down and have a little conversation with y'all.  I've come up with a novel idea (not related to the Novel Coronavirus) that I think is worth talking about.  Some of you will probably think this is just crazy, but just give me a break.  Just consider what I'm about to say.  Sleep on the idea if you need to, but don't just write it off too soon.

I think we should just inaugurate Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States right now.  I haven't just come up with this idea suddenly.  There's been a lot of thought put into this, and I think it could work.  We all know that Joe is going to be the nominee to run for the Democrats, and we all know the blind and deaf Republicans are going to nominate Don.  The only problem with this thinking is that it's really not going to be a close race, and we all know who is going to win already.  We're going to have a free and fair election, with no fraud or dishonesty.  Except, of course, for Don's dishonesty and lies when he says it ISN'T a free and fair election, with no fraud or dishonesty, because he lost.

Just think of the advantages of inaugurating Joe now.  There are many:

  • We would be rid of the most corrupt President in the history of our country.
  • We could restore respect and honesty to the Office of the President.
  • We would have a President that is more respected around the world by our allies, and also a President who respects our allies.  And stands up to our foes.
  • We would have a President who is NOT a racist, and a liar, and is not dishonest.

Those a just a few examples of what we have to gain by inaugurating Joe now.  And I can't think of a single disadvantage of being rid of Don.  So, what do you think?  Can ya work with me on this.  I think it's time has come.  But these last 3 1/2 years have just been too much.  I don't think the country can take another 4 years of this nonsense.  Let's give it a try.

Respectfully submitted for your consideration.

Revival

Hey there, everyone.  Now that I revived this old blog from years ago, I'll be adding more  content to it as you'll be seeing.  Some of what I will be sharing is some political thoughts.  Some you'll agree with, and some you won't.  I have never identified with any specific political party, but I'm more liberal than conservative for sure.  So although some of my posts won't be pro-Democratic you can be sure that all of them will be anti-Republican.  That's all I will say now, so stay tuned.  And remember to "Follow" along just by clicking the button to the right.

Welcome to the Lunatic House

Here's another building at the Wood County Historical Museum in Bowling Green, Ohio.  It's the Lunatic House from 1885.  It was used for the "insane patients" at the Wood County Infirmary.  It had two floors, 26 x 40 feet, with the bottom floor divided into cells, and the upper floor used as a hospital.  It cost $1,700 to build.  I'm glad I was never made to stay there.

Welcome to the House

Back in the old days in Wood County, Ohio at the County Home, or the Infirmary. there was a place known as the Pest House.  According to the sign posted on the house it was a place used to "isolate residents with infectious diseases from the the rest of the infirmary household."  It doesn't sound like a very nice place or a place I'd like to be kept.  Gosh, how we have progressed since those "old" days.

Hello Friends

Hello Friends. I'm trying something new here tonight.  For the past several years I've had this blog on Davey1.Org that has been setting here dormant for quite a long time.  I'm going to try to revive it and post more content here, and I hope you'll join me.  There will be some surprises from time to time, and hopefully you won't be too bored.  I just want to share a few things here that won't be posted directly to my Facebook page, but when you see a link on Facebook my post will be just a click away.
